VW muffler

The said chambers and baffles are called as resonators that are primarily linked at the first chamber of the VW muffler using an opening. This resonator typically possesses a certain amount of air and has a precise total length that is pre-calculated to produce a wave that can either absorb or cancels out a certain frequency of sound. When a wave hits the hole, part of it continues into the chamber and part of it is reflected to the source as it is cancelled out in the process by colliding on the same wave form. The wave that is moving towards the chamber bounces from the back wall of the muffler and back to the hole as it repeat the process of cancellation.
