VW fuel filters are made from quality filter material that traps dirt while allowing the fuel to pass through the strainer without any hindrance. Filters for carbureted type engines may be located at the inlet or inline of the carburetor. In fuel injected engines on the other hand, the VW fuel filter is situated along the fuel lines of the fuel injection system.
